Synagogue 3000: History
Synagogue 2000
|
|
|
Synagogue 3000 is the successor organization to Synagogue 2000 (S2K), a groundbreaking national, not-for-profit institute that was dedicated to revitalizing and re-energizing synagogue life in North America. S2K's mission was to work collaboratively with synagogues of all denominations to realize the power of sacred community through a transforming process of prayer, study, and social justice that blends authentic Jewish values and knowledge with the best practices of modern organization development.
|
| |
S2K implemented its mission through the creation of cohorts, or groups, of synagogues
which embarked on 3-year journeys of transformation during which teams of
synagogue professionals and lay leaders participated in:
-
Conferences: at which teams experienced innovative models of
community, prayer, study, music, dance, and sacred space.
-
Curriculum: through which teams grew in knowledge, and experimented
with new models of synagogue life by studying Jewish texts and
engaging in provocative discussions and exercises.
-
Change Management: by which teams worked toward their goals with the
help of team building, group dynamics, leadership training, and
other recognized organization development processes.
In addition, S2K had a Consulting Services Division which created customized programs for individual congregations.
